I bought the lovely 900 silver pill box yesterday. I am having difficult in making out the hallmarks. I can see there is a 900 in a box and then the mark in the middle is quite difficult to see. Could be a 'd' and then what looks like a cross over an oval shape. The makers mark looks to be 'GH'. I would appreciate any help on what country it could be from.

      It is German.
      From left to right:
      Fineness (either 800 or 900).
Partially struck German crescent and crown national mark after 1888.
Makers initials mark I cannot identify.

There seems to be one more mark on the right: Austria - Hungary Empire import maek used 1901 ' 1921.

Thank you Ivan49, that is extremely helpful. I spent hours looking at Hallmarks and couldn’t find anything. The Fineness is definitely 900 (I can see it with a magnifying glass). The Makers Mark is 99% {GH} but I haven’t had any luck in finding out who the German Silversmith is. You mention you can see a mark on the right indicating an Austrian-Hungary import mark? Sorry I can’t see this. Where exactly? Many thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

Austrian Import mark is possibly on the right of maker`s mark, but cannot tell for sure.It my be my imagination.
Nevertheless, it is German, late 19th or early 20th century based on the style of marks.
