I spent my vacations in Spain this year and obviously could not avoid the flea markets and beautiful antique shops of Madrid, where I found this locally produced miniature mannequin torso. It is labeled "TEJEDOR - Concepción Jerónima, 4 - MADRID" which are the names of the factory and its address. The factory was owned by a certain Francisco Tejedor and I found invoices from his company being sold online dated from 1907 and 1927, which is the one I posted in the fourth picture. The company name mentions it produced manniquins, toys and "all kinds of cardboard objects". The invoice is signed "Ftejedor". This little mannequin is made of paper mache covered with a very fine padded linen cloth, finely sewn, with wooden shoulder and neck pieces. It probably had a wooden stand and a neck finial that went missing. It is 14 1/2 inches tall. I estimate its age based on other Tejedor mannequins found online that have the same style.

Hello Phil, hope you are doing well. I'm glad to see you are online again! Thanks for the love and yes, I think I was lucky to find something cool to remember this great trip to Spain. Hopefully Mani will show up. I intend to make a stand and a neck finial for it based on other miniature dress forms I found online, so her advice will be welcome as always.
Hello mcheconi:-) What a wonderful find . It is hard to say for sure what this small mannequin was used for . Usually when we see one this shape and style it is made for a young seamstress to use while using sew using small amounts of fabric . I do not think your had a finial those are seen more on miniature mannequins that are used to display jewelry . However they would be covered in more of a velvet material rather than linen . I also found one other on like yours which look just like yours . I think adding a base so it stands taller would display better . It is fantastic you have the provenance with it . A very unique find and I love it .

Hey Mani, thank you for the love, the link and the advice! I will go for the stand only then. I actually do not own the provenance, I only copied an image I found online of an invoice of this Tejedor company, to document the post. I also found another invoice from 1907 online. Anyway, it was very satisfying to find some info on it, which is always the best part of collecting stuff!
