    carved Ivory figurine Asian and sure if it's Chinese or Japanese lady with fan about 6 in tall mounted on a round wood base done all the tests appears to be ivory. can't find any pictures even similar anybody have any ideas what time. Or just would be from or what type of Lady this is?

      One picture doesn't say much. Can you show the bottom and back side?

      How did you confirm this as being ivory? Enlarging the image suggests otherwise. Just curious.

      I did the test where you heat up a needle till it's red hot and poke the statue and if it doesn't burn it's supposed to be Ivory that's what it says on the internet

      Did you read the part on the Internet where it says a needle test isn't accurate? It is simply an indication of possibilities.

      @fhrjr2 When enlarged, what specifically makes you say it's not ivory?

      Yes, the bottom should be shown, as well as the back of the statuette.
