Need help identifying this piece of pottery, a 95 year old woman gave it to me 20 years ago she told me it was older than her and it was Native American and it is a seed holder to keep the Vermin out

Probably Zuni, from the southwest. The Gecko (lizard) being painted on it was supposed to scare away other animals wanting to steal the seed. It may also be from south of the boarder.
No, not Zuni or Native American, based on the clay used (commercial stoneware, rather than local Zuni clay), the fact that it appears to have been glazed (the crackling effect near the neck), and the form itself (pinched slab work, rather than coiled.)
It appears to be a studio or student piece, fired in a kiln, "inspired by" Native American theme, but totally unlike any traditional Native American-made pottery.
