About 25 years ago, this beautiful little table was purchased in a yard sale. It had stamped on the backside of the tabletop “Angelus Furniture MGF Co. 200-1.” I was wondering if anyone knows if “200-1” means 200 were made and this was the first of 200, or if it is an order number. The tabletop is leather with brass tacks around the edges’ circumference of the tabletop. I called the new business formed from Angelus Furniture, but they were not able to provide a definite answer on that, or the year built. I tend to believe it was built before the 1950s (when retailing was added to Angelus Furniture) as it seems to be more of an Art Deco style then of the style of the late ‘50s and beyond.

After doing much research, I found a short history on Angelus Furniture and its evolution. I am including it here in case others have pieces from them as I did notice one member’s entry of an Angelus Furniture dining room set that he found and had questions.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brief History of Angelus Furniture (and its Transition to West Coast Living)

In 1901, Harry Siskin opened his furniture operation under the name of Angelus Furniture. It started as a manufacturer of fine furniture and continued to do so through the 50's. In the late 50's, Harry added retailing and Angelus would become one of the premiere supplies of furniture in all of Los Angeles. He was joined by his grandson, Irwin Greenberg, who continues to be President of the company today.

Angelus Furniture Manufacturing Company became an institution in Los Angeles, offering high quality furniture that has lasted for many generations. Even today, many Los Angeles families can claim a dining room or bedroom piece with the name “Angelus” engraved on it.

In the late 80's, we ventured to Orange County to open our first Thomasville store. Soon after, we expanded to five Thomasville stores and closed our Angelus Furniture operation in LA.

With the next two generations entering the business, we continued to strive to make ourselves the largest fine furniture store in So Cal. In 2019, Thomasville no longer was manufacturing furniture so out of that evolved our new name of West Coast Living.
