Looks like a mortar bomb, but not one I'm familiar with. What is the diameter ?
hi blunderbuss2,
Thank you for taking time to read my show & tell.
-biggest diameter is 9.5"
-the very end of the mortar diameter is 9.75"
-overall lenght is 18.5"
-number inscribe on the mortar is "11 1/2 LB" & "SSF42"
I'm not a mortar man since I almost kill my crew in Central Amer. while trying to make up a range table, since none was provided. Don't fire into a headwind without computing it into your range table ! This appears to be for a 240 m/m mortar that was copied directly from the French by the U.S. during WWI. I banned myself from laying 81 m/m mortars, to the great relief of the gun crew. LOL !!
thank you for the information sir, appreciate that
