I picked this 16" long wrench at a Cape Cod garage sale. The opening is 2-1/2". It's stamped with "8160318 FOR-GUN-RETAINER NUT". I can't find a thing about it on the www. I appreciate any help identifying its special purpose.

Part Number Correction: "8160318" should be: B160318

It might be part of a weapon repair kit. You should ask a group of weapon collectors there. Not sure but it may have been widened with a grinder to open larger nuts than the original.

Thank you for the advice. I was also wondering if the opening was widened, but on close examination it appears to be original. (no signs of grinding etc.)
