Solid silver chased handle and steel barrel pocket watch fob.
A lovely novelty pistol with a barrel that is hinged and a working trigger.
Not sure what the fork bit does but I am sure someone will let me know.
A happy addition to my collection. Thanks for looking. Neil
it is a working pistol you can still get ammo for it - I have one very similar with a rabbit and fox on either side of the handle - Look up worlds smallest gun or something similar
Neil,
These are 2mm pinfire pistols used as watch fobs, they are not keys.
The one you have is one of the early ones with the barrel bored through all the way. Later ones, post WWII, have the barrel blocked, and a vent hole in the bottom, side or top.
Here are some in my collection:

If you check on my profile page, under pocket watch fobs, I think terror are more.
Thanks Dave you have a brilliant collection. What is the fork thing on the side of the pistol ? Neil
Hi Robert. I would have never thought that such a small pistol would be able to fire real ammo. Thanks for the info. Neil
Niel,
I don't have access to the book to give you the technical answer, but the "fork as you call it", is a flat tension spring holding the two halves of the frame together. Yours appears to be missing the pin.
I will post one showing you what it should look like.
