Hello everyone,
Here are a couple of cast iron Staffordshire Bull Terriers that I've had for a while. Their muscular builds are well defined in these castings. I do not know who the manufacturer of these was or when they were made. These are very well cast and have nice tight seams, so, not cheap reproductions. They do seem to be very scarce as I rarely come across one of these. I feel fortunate to own two of these fine cast iron dogs. These measure 15 1/2" long and 10 1/2" tall. They weigh in at just over 18 lbs each, so fairly heavy fellows. I felt they needed collars, so I fabricated a couple of leather collars in my shop for each of them.
Hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping in for a look!!

What a handsome pair, they look so real! Great addition to your cast iron animal collection Scott, I LOVE them
Got them to chase the rabbits ?
Perhaps they would chase cast iron rabbits.
Jenni,
Thanks so very much!! Glad you love them.
BB2,
Yep, they've chased most of the rabbits away:)
fortapache,
They have chased them all away to storage. Right now, there are mostly cast iron and bronze dogs on the patio:)
Thanks everyone for the loves, comments and for stopping by!!

These are so cute!!
I have seen these before and I believe they were produced in two different sizes. These being the larger size. As I recall the small one was around 9 or 10 inches long and 6 inches tall at around 6 pounds. You can find them pictured on real or repro sites but all I have seen were stated as unknown maker. These aren't shown on stops.com which is a good site to identify antique stops.
MrsTyndall,
Thanks so very much!!
fhrjr2,
Thanks very much for the info. Screw heads are nicely concealed. But, there are no markings on these anywhere that would indicate who the maker is. Hopefully, we'll find out one of these days. I've always liked the size and stance of these two fellows.
Thank you all very much for the comments, loves and for stopping by!!

The mark is what I always found a problem when I collected stops. Many of them Hubley included the mark is inside the stop. That means to be sure if there is a mark we need to take it apart and look inside. Hubley that I have actually opened, the mark was on a raised rectangle inside. After Hubley sold their molds the raised rectangle is still there but the Hubley name was ground off. So it is actually from a Hubley mold.
