The Opel Diplomat was a luxury car of sorts. Of sorts as two of the options were a small block Chevrolet V8 and a Powerglide transmission something you couldn't get on something like a Chevrolet. Oh wait you get those with a Chevrolet. Anyway it was a luxury car.
The model was first released in 1966 and sold through 1970. In 1969 it came in an F style box and as a Superfast in 1970. The moving feature on this is the opening hood and detailed engine which in this case is the Chevrolet V8 otherwise it would be an inline 6. This has the simulated windows and interior of a 1966 model but not the suspension system of the 1968-1969 models.
Not sure what is coming tomorrow but it will be something.
Another nice Mbox. I've never seen a pre Superfast Matchbox color I didn't like, Will Rogers would have collected Matchboxes, I'm positive. I always thought all Opels were on the smallish side. A friend of mine had an Opel GT in the 70's, it was a cool looking fun little car.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. The Opel was probably a large car by European standards. American cars were a bit on the large side.
Nice one!! So, if you had to guess, about how many Matchbox cars do you have in your collection? You have an amazing collection of these.
Thank you very much Scott. 300-400 I think and that would just be Matchbox and mostly mint.
Wow!! That's a lot of Matchbox cars fortapache!!
Thank you
