One might not think much of a leaf rake, even one such as this 38-40+ year old spring action metal rake. Especially given the chrome springs and areas were rusted over. But... There lay the choice of refurbish or landfill. I choose refurbish. ;-)
Best guess it was purchased by the original owner around the late 70's early 80's.
Sorry, I don't know the brand as there's no markings.
Though you can find here and there 22, 24, and larger spring action metal leaf rakes, the 18 tine is somewhat a rarity to find these days. Even online. So I'm glad I chose to refurbish it. It took some work but it came out nice.
Features after the refurbish...
Exterior grade Urethane finish on the handle.
Handles is properly installed on the head.
SS hardware and custom hardware used for mounting.
Two comfort grips added.
Real Leather hanging loop... for function and looks. (And Yes, I know that was a nail hanging hole but I didn't want someone messing up the finish trying to hook it on a nail)
I may add one more feature, (I'm considering it)
All said and done, at 40 years old or so, it's one heck of a rake now. Ready to be put back in service.
If you know who made it, please chime in.
So, whom of you wants to be the first to give it test run? Heh, heh, heh... ;-)
