I'm still in the process of restoring this item but it's reached a point I can post it.

I know "Gruvwood" was designed and made by National Products Inc out of Louisville, Kentucky. Produced in the 60's.

I know Ransburg made glass products in the beginning then moved to wicker and tins and crockery sometime in the 1930's or 40's.

What I have not figured out is the connection between the two companies.

If you look at the National Products Gruvwood Hamper or Plant stand. The 3 are identical in height, diameter and the gold color paint they painted the metal can with. I'm not 100% sure about the wood. National Products used Walnut which they harvested locally and it states so on their products. And I'm not familiar enough with Walnut to say definitely this is Walnut not teak or something else.

The difference that I can see besides the company name is the one by Ransburg has 4 rubber feet as well as a Masonite bottom liner between the feet and can. Though I believe some of the plant stands National Products produced also had feet. But I'm not positive.

Ransburg did come up with the electrostatic paint process. Which they still develop and produce equipment to do today.

National Products Inc out of Louisville, Kentucky claims all wood was local and their products where produced in house. That's what I understand about their Gruvwood line.

Was Ransburg producing the inner can and painting it for National Products Inc?

Was National Products Inc producing Gruvwood to be used for the Ransburg Ashtray Urn?

Did Ransburg copy the Gruvwood design for the urn?
    I don't know...
That's the mystery that I'm trying to solve. The connection between the two companies, if there is one.
Chime in if you know the answer.
