Is there such thing as a reverse USA pottery stamp?!

I was told this was Shawnee. But if it is, then the mark is backwards. Was that a thing? I can't find any matches and I'm stumped. Granted, I'm just learning about pottery. If anybody has some insight on this, please fill me in. Thanks!
