Here’s a lovely (presumably wedding) photo showing a group from a Württemberg regiment of uhlans (lancers). The approximately 8 ¾ x 6 ½ photo matted and in its original frame. Just below the photo on the left is the date 1908, and at the bottom right is the photographer’s imprint of Emil Schmid, Ludwigsburg. The model 1889 cavalry swords bear the coat of arms of Württemberg, and the Uhlan Regiment King Wilhelm I (2nd Württemberg) no. 20 was garrisoned in Ludwigsburg, where the photo was taken. Of course these guys could have been in another Württemberg ulhan regiment and been visiting Ludwigsburg. Gotta love those moustaches!

The second picture is the back of the mat, the photo being glued to it. The pencil marks were very faint, and I had to fool around with it in photoshop to make them visible in the picture

I wonder given the fate of the cavalry in WWI, how many people in this photo were still alive nine years later.

When I originally posted this photo, I used an old digital photo that was smaller with less resolution. Tonight I finally took the photo out of the frame for a better picture. Enjoy.
