I love the simplicity of this, even though I'm not quite sure if it's an ashtray or a change tray for a counter top. The tiger graphic is obviously dating it as the later versions were much more simply styled than this version. The English maker's mark is 'Royal Alma Est 1856', which means it was definitely made after 1963 when that particular maker's mark was introduced.
The ceramic is unmarked and although simple, it's very elegant and I like the Esso reference.

Beautiful Esso lion image that is new to me. Remember the ads, "put a tiger in your tank" lol
