    Hello again everyone!!
Here are a pair of cast iron fox terrier doorstops that I've had for a while. These guys were made in the very early 1900's, or possibly the late 1800's, by Spencer & Sons Foundry in Guilford, Conn. They are a two piece design and are held together with a flat head slotted bolt and a square nut. They each measure 7 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" long. They weigh in at 5.6lbs each. I bought these as a pair a couple of years ago. Though they appear to be identical, one is a very smooth casting and the other is a slightly rougher casting, but the seams are nice and tight on both.. Though they're not perfect, by any means, I'm still very glad to have them in my collection.

A small bit of history of Spencer & Sons Foundry:
In 1851 Israel Stowe Spencer purchased an iron foundry on Fair Street in Guilford. The company Spencer founded, I. S. Spencer’s Sons (his sons, Christopher and George B. Spencer joined him in 1857), added a brick foundry to the property in 1869. It was enlarged in 1880. The company produced cast iron products, such as legs for school desks, lamp pedestals and bicycle parts, doorstops, etc...

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

      Thanks Eileen!!
I love these as well. Never owned a Fox Terrier though. Cast iron are the closest I've ever came to owning one:)
