It resembles the Pontiac Indian head bust that Pontiac automobiles used back in the 1920's. There were a number of different designs that were used on promotional items as well as car hood ornaments and signs. Not sure that is what this item is but it resembles it.

My thoughts too went to art deco hood ornaments, like Lalique's iconic screaming face and similar pieces like the nymph's head. At a guess I'd say this is art deco revival (70s-80s), but I'd like to see the back to judge the clasp and all. Could you add a photo of it?

Thanks for the info. Now even more curious about the piece. Added a picture of the back.

I'm disproportionally amused by that one stone poking through the back.

This is not too old a brooch, so my guess continues to be art deco revival (70s-80s). I could find an Art Deco 89 brooch explicitly based on Lalique's hood ornament
(https://www.decolish.com/art-deco-89-jewelry.html), so that strengthens the possibility that the brooch is hood ornament-based. Art deco revival jewelry is funny that way - it incorporates shapes that are art deco, but not originally meant for jewelry.

Truly an eye-catcher of a brooch. Great find!

Thank you very much for the information Parrotbeak. My husband thought Pontiac when he saw it too. Greatly appreciate your insight to the piece. This was in a tub 100 plus brooches I grabbed at an estate sale for $10 bucks. This pin really caught my eye because I like out of the ordinary. :-)
