This is not really my usual fare, but for a humble $1 from my local Salvos op shop, how could I turn it down?
This vase measures 22.5 cm tall, 7 cm across the top rim, & 7.5 cm across the base. It is made from clear glass that has been given a satin finish & decorated with ruby flashing in a style that imitates cameo glass.
It's not a high quality piece by any means, but it possesses a certain rustic charm, & definitely has some age to it. There is a snapped pontil mark on the base, & wear commensurate to a late 19th C. origin.
The design of a deer head surrounded by a wreath is quintessentially Central European - it just has to be Bohemian, or perhaps German.
    Any thoughts welcome!

Gorgeous vase, beautiful deer head and appears to be a kind of crest design with the wreath frame, love it!

Cool piece. How could one pass it up for $1. The motif of the piece would likely lead me more in the direction of Bavarian over Bohemian.

Thanks so much, welzebub...yes it caught my eye right away, I'm always on the lookout for quirky items that I haven't seen before, yet "connect" with me somehow. It does indeed look very Bavarian...have amended the title. I've not seen anything quite like it before in my experience here. As some of my heritage is from Central Europe of course I was drawn to it quite magnetically...

Many thanks, renedijkstra, I agree, not really my usual area of glass but something a bit different can be fun.
