These rocks are my souvenirs of a recent trip to Lake Erie’s shore at the Woodlawn Beach State Park, Hamburg, NY.

Accompanying me on this were my cousins Jennifer and Darrel Karalunas.

I have no idea of what type of stones in this collection are, but I found them appealing.

The additional items in the image are some of the other things that I have acquired over time….

Thanks, kwqd.......it is a pleasant diversion. Additionally, I got a child interested in rocks and fossils, too. And expanding one's horizons is a good thing!

As a recall, that vaseline glass toothpick holder was my Mother's, who got it at a movie giveaway night during the Depression.

When I moved into my house 20+ years ago, there were numerous boxes of rocks in my basement, several hundred rocks. I understand that the seller got rid of several more boxes. It turns out that the folks who owned the house from 1930-1990 also picked up a rock from each place they visited on vacation as souvenirs. Most of the rocks were unremarkable, but some were unique and a few had penciled notations. One was a piece of petrified elephant tusk and another a piece of petrified wood. A lot of them ended up in my garden to give future geologists fits. There are still a few boxes in my basement that I will pass on to the next owner.
