    (928 items)

Found at a local antiques fair that I attended on the weekend, this vase caught my eye for a number or reasons. The salmon pink colour (not often seen, & my favorite shade of pink in glass) & the delicate enamel decoration.
The vase shades from milky opalescence at the base, to a deep salmon pink at the top. Measuring around 16 cm tall, it is ribbed, with a tricorn shaped top rim that is finely crimped, & an applied thorny handle in clear glass. The enamel & gilded decoration is of stylised branches, with pine needles & cherry blossom type flowers. Snapped off pontil mark underneath.
From comparing with similar pieces pictured in Dr. K M Hasselbach's article on Early Loetz production on Loetz.com - in particular images 36.02, 36.03, 36.05, & 36.06, I feel that this vase may also be an example of Victorian era Loetz.

Fabulous IronLace. Such an unusual shape and decoration. I can see why you love the salmon pink colour. Thank you for mentioning Dr K M Hasselbach's article, I'd not seen it, very interesting reading.

Many thanks Vintagefran! Yes, there's something about salmon pink that is rather special...I'm always looking out for good examples. The article was pointed out to me by Inky a few years ago. The research is outstanding & has helped me to identify some of my Victorian glass as being Early Loetz pieces, as well as making me more aware of the diversity of their production from that particular era.

In that case Thank you Inky also. There's so much in the article, definitely one to bookmark :)
