This lamp has been in my family for years. I have tried to find a signature on the shade as well as a name on the lamp itself. I have had no luck in my research. Any help would be appreciated.

It's possible that your lamp and shade may be from different periods. Usually this type of shade is on an older base (darker brass patina) with a down turned cluster socket from the very early 1900's. Your shiny brass base seems more early mid century.

It's helpful to know if your shade is hand painted or decal since some of the shade designers only hand painted so you could rule one or the other out. For research, I would look at the Pittsburgh and also Phoenix lamp companies first as many examples online are of the same shape and similar designs as your lamp shade.

The lamp base will usually have the maker's imprinted in the metal near the wiring or along the base edge. Sometimes the wiring may have a code, rating or brand that will help you establish a date for the lamp provided it has not been updated.

I often research pieces of an item instead of the whole. Your lovely lamp has been on a long journey since it was created and may have swapped out parts along the way.

Thx so much. I too feel like the lamp and shade didnt orginally go together. I feel very sure the shade is hand painted but im not 100% sure. How could i tell? I will research some more with the leads you have given me. Thanks again
