I went back to look at the other tea cups in the charity shop, and bought this one. The others were lovely, but all had quite bad damage. I don't mind a bit of damage, but at the right price. This cup was only £2.99, and has a hairline crack, but its interesting for it's age. the shape is called London shape and was a very fashionable shape between 1810-1825. It is hand painted and gilded and has a painted red pattern number on the base - 2/739. It could possibly be Ridgway, as they are one of the potters who used fractional numbers.
