      your photo on the left looks like Marine Corps warrant officer rank WO-1 and WO-2

      Thank you. When I look online at the Marine Corps they look red. These are brown. He was in the Army and has several of these. The ones I see for the Army now are black. He has some black & silver bars sewen onto some green material, as well as the brown one with 2 brown as in the pin above. Even the sewen on bars do not look like the bars now. They look like the ones in the picture. Have they changed since the 60's or early 70's when he retired? No other family of his was in the military.

      So I just learned through Ancestry that my grandfather's uncle was in the military and is showing in the Navy and Marines records for WWI and WWII. This may explain the bar pins. I have not found his rank yet. For whatever reason he may have kept his uncle's pins, medals, and ribbons.
