    On the top line it has the initials I.E.B 217 and the second line it says lenggries. I know this piece is German and lenggries is a town in germany. Just curious if anyone can tell me anything about it.

      I just typed the initals and the number in and the first thing that came up was the "Infanerty Ersatz Batalion 217" which was formed in 1939 as part of the German Wehrmacht. Maybe that helps.
