This is a reissue from the 1950s. I believe this is 1970s as I purchased it with some other 1970s era scout equipment. There is no UPC symbol although the UPC was probably being introduced around this time.
The knife, fork and spoon set all fits together as seen in photos 2 and 4. It does not fit on a belt so it must have been made to go in a pocket. It does have the seal of the Boy Scouts of America on the box and carrying case. As usual seems a clever bit of kit. I wonder if the scouts washed them. This set seems to be unused. Would be interesting to field test them along with a mess kit.

When I read your post, I had to go check a fork I found years ago in my mom’s kitchen ware drawer. It’s exactly like yours, so now it’s labeled and I will keep my eyes open for the rest of the set. Thanks!

I assure you we washed them. I had this set in the mid 50's. You didn't carry it on a belt because it was only used at meal time. You kept it inside your mess kit. After a meal your mess kit might be scorched black from cooking over an open fire. You always camped near a brook or lake. You would go to the water edge and find a place with fine sand or silt. You used the sand/silt to scrub the mess kit until it shined like new. The sand/silt is abrasive and removes the scorch, grease etc. in no time.

Thank you very much Watchsearcher. Someone might be looking for that fork. Regardless would be good to get a complete set.

Thank you very much fhrjr2. When I give my mess kit a try I wil try that. I think I may want to boil some water though as one never knows what is upstream.

That hot dip took place back at the campfire where there was a big pot of boiling water.

I sure remember that keramikos. As I recall the hot water out of the faucet wasn't actually hot enough back when we had open flame water heaters. We never had an electric one until 1964 or 65. What a difference from a kerosene heated one.

Thank you very much keramikos. I have some nice big pots from those days. I use paper plates when I go camping. I have a canvasbasin for washing dished around here someplace.
