Hello!
This is a large brooch signed Trifari that I found last fall at a rummage sale. The design is a stylized cockade meaning 'a rosette or knot of ribbons worn in a hat as a badge of office or party, or as part of a livery.
"the cap bore the traditional cockade in silver, blue, and red"'
It measures 2 and 5/8" across. Thanks for stopping by.
Truly a beauty, lovely melange of sapphire blue stones at the center. As Eileen said, kudos on an amazing rummage sale find, she & I never get lucky like that! :)
Hi Broochman, Eileen, and Newfld, Thanks for the fun comments and loves. Rummage sales like the thrifts seems to be falling by the wayside. But this was from last fall's sale where I found the Miriam Haskell. Maybe it was from the same donor? The sale was a real throw back as they served cheese and crackers and punch and had a little jazz band tooting away in their not-very-big social hall. I hope they do it again this year!
This is the sleepy Midwest, and I think some in the ladies auxiliary view junk jewelry with disdain. That's nice for us isn't it?
Thanks for the loves Fortapache, AdeleC and Raven3766.
Best, Maureen
Love your stories about rummage sales. They were special and these ladies are really trying to keep up the standards:)
Beautiful piece!
I've never properly acknowledged the love and comments from these wonderful collectors.
