This beautiful Classic 1936 Cord just arrived from Chicago after a long trip across the Country to get to the Lakeside Museum in Provo. I’m sure it’s the only Cord in Utah as they only made about 3000 total in 36-37. They were beautiful cars in 36 and are still beautiful in 2019.
I’ve always dreamed of owning one since I was a little kid and remembering seeing one travel past our house almost every week end when we lived in California. After throwing a wet dirt clod at the car and hitting his windshield the owner made a quick u turn and chased me down and ran into my house behind me without bothering to ring the bell and met my very protective mom. That was the day mom met Charles Laughton, the Movie Star. I was about 6 at the time. Still love his car and now I have one. Olden days of youthful pranks never to be forgotten.

WOW. What an *INCREDIBLE* car -- I don't think I've ever even heard of the Cord before just now. Also an awesome story of how you *do* remember them!! <applause> THANKS FOR SHARING!!! [and what's its interior look like...more pics *please*?? ;-)]

Cool story we got chased by a guy after throwing rocks at his car but it sure was not a Cord. When I had my concrete business I did a shop extension for a guy that had 3 Cords one was completely restored another he was about half done and the last one seemed to be his pride and joy No, 12 if I remember right and it was a convertible Cords where very much ahead of their time. The old guy passed away before he got the last one done always wonder what happened to them

      OLECODY,
Actually I shortened the story so I didn’t bore people. It was after a rare rainy day and there was tall grass along side the Pacific Coast Highway (101) where we lived & when I grabbed a handful of grass a clump of dirt came with it, which was perfect to sling across the road. At my young age I was tempted to aim a moving targets and got good enough to hit the Laughtons Cord in the passenger windshield. Obviously upsetting him! He chased me a long ways before I finally ran in to the back door of the house where I was finally caught. No harm done fortunately. Soft dirt and weeds was all and a dirty spot on the glass

Thanks for the comment and love it. The interior is mint condition and is Burgundy in color. I’ll post pix when I get home, but am out of State for a few weeks. It was a fully restored car and while the paint needs attention the interior is great
