There is a story attached to these fascinating bracelets. They were part of a large box full of a woman's estate jewelry from Atlanta, most of which were souvenir pieces from the USA, some costume jewelry, and three very tarnished black bracelets and a pendant with chain.
In other words these bracelets stuck out as completely different in style, age and provenance. They were from somewhere overseas, and I finally noticed these tiny hallmarks with a loupe, and was able to identify one as Polish (bracelet), and another one as Ottoman Empire (pendant), which was a huge area before WWI, including Turkey, much of the Middle- East, and any other small country below the Austro-Hungarian Empire at that time.
I have no idea how this lady acquired these special bracelets and the ornate pendant with carnelian cab and double link chain. One hinged bangle was tiny and would have fit a young girl's wrist or a very small woman. I was hooked on the mystery and the challenge of finding out as much as I could about this jewelry. If it had not been marked at all, it would have been very difficult to attribute, since the influence of this type of tribal jewelry went far and wide.
