I received this from an aunt in England in 1974. I believe it is mother-of-pearl and was used to open perfume or other small bottles. I have no idea what era it would be from. It is about 4 cm in length.

From the photos, I wouldn't think that's MOP. Perhaps the creamy color is due to the light, but could this be something else, like (not elephant) ivory or plastic imitating ivory? It looks like there are some lines at the bottom of the tip in the second pic.
