My Panasonic Lumix died suddenly a few days ago and I'm not in a hurry to spend much money on a new camera so picked up the camera in the link below for $38.99, as an experiment. Resolution is not great, but I took these pictures right out of the box with no tinkering, so it may be adjustable for better resolution. Haven't even read the manual, yet. It requires loading software on your computer, but doesn't support Linux, which I use. Luckily I have an I-Flash SD card adapter which works for reading the SD card that this camera uses. So, potentially cheap to produce CW quality images for not much money, though these images are definitely not very good, and no where near the quality of my Lumix images, but maybe quality will get better with some tinkering. We shall see.
I've had this small, cement bird for several years, a thrift shop find that I probably paid $1 or less for, and it came quickly to hand as a guinea pig (guinea bird?) to use to test out my new camera. I'm not sure if I ever Googled it before and was surprised to find a web site devoted to the company (Isabel Bloom) that made it. Turns out it is a Goldfinch and sells for $31... It measures 4.25" long x 2.5" high x 2.25" wide. It is hand painted and inscribed on the bottom "Isabel (R) Bloom (C) 2011 USA L.E.". Guessing "L.E." is the artist who painted it.
Sorry for the poor quality images.

Later: I cranked up the image quality to max and played with the zoom feature a bit and it got a bit better (second and third images). Nothing to write home about but I may be able to live with this image quality for under $50 including a 32GB SD card.
What a pretty songbird, adorable
