Hello everyone!!
I recently posted a reproduction of a cast iron Boston Terrier With Paws Up doorstop. Here's an original of that particular doorstop. As you can see, the original is a two piece design held together with a screw and he's hollow. This one is in fair condition and I'm certain this is not his original paint. But, I'm still happy to have him in my collection. This one was patented on January 13, 1931 by W. Lauderbach. It's design #83,051. The word "PATENT" and the design # are both embossed on the insides of his feet. He measures 9 1/2" tall.
Thanks for stopping in for a look!!
Scott
He looks like he is trying to get inside, probably voicing a little whine. This guy is quite the handsome fella & nice addition to your great collection Scott
Thanks Jenni!!! He's made to lean against the door, but, you're right, he does appear to be trying to get inside.
Thanks Rob!! Yeah, I too have never seen a Boston with a white tail. Typically, I'd be very apprehensive about repainting an original. But, since this one no longer retains any of it's original paint, I won't feel so guilty about it.
Thanks Eileen!! Though his patent date is 1931, I'm in doubt that he was cast in that particular year, but still vintage though.
Thanks to you all for the loves, comments and for stopping by!!
