We found this piece at an estate sale. It is handmade with no markings on the bottom. Would like to know how old it is.

First, it's not Native American Indian, it's Mexican, from the village of Mata Ortiz. Pottery was first made in the village in the late 1970s, starting with Juan Quezada and his relatives. By the 1980s, he had become the inspiration for other villagers, who quickly turned the village into a noted pottery center.

Today there are over 400 Mata Ortiz potters, who make contemporary Mexican Art Pottery, as well as collectible and souvenir pieces, some based on Indian pottery designs. None of the potters claim any tribal affiliation, however, they are Mexican. So the pottery is circa 1980s, or newer.
