These mugs are 3.5" in diameter, minus handles, x 3.5" high. Not a fan of RR, didn't vote for him, etc., but I've purged all Chinese made cookware and serving ware from my home and replaced it with USA made pieces from thrift shops and these are USA made. I've added quite a few old Victor, HLC, Buffalo, Syracuse, etc., diner mugs to my kitchen cabinets and still pick up USA made heavy porcelain diner mugs when I see them. These are not heavy and not porcelain, but are kind of cool. They are very uneven, slightly different in size, irregular, etc., but quite large. My first thought was that one would be a good replacement when I break my large breakfast coffee mug. They are marked USA and when I saw the Monmouth, IL connection I figured they were probably made by the Western Stoneware Company, but some research has shown that they were probably not made there. Guessing they probably date between 1981 and 2000. Not sure who made them if Western Stoneware did not. Any input on who made these is welcome!

Interesting...having grown up half an hour away from Monmouth IL, I don't think I realized that the town "claims" RR as an (early, brief) inhabitant...?

But anyways, I do have a couple stoneware pitchers amongst my 'collections' which did come from Western (in the 1970's-80's) and they do bear a very similar "USA" mark to that on your mugs. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's where they were made...?

Thanks AnythingObscure! I wasn't aware of the RR connection to Monmouth, either. My first guess was Western Stoneware, but most of the information I found says that if marked, the maple leaf mark was used. Did you purchase your USA pieces from Western Stoneware or were they marked in some other way which identifies them as their work?

Thanks! Not sure. They both look pretty generic. I tend to agree with you, though, that my cups are by Western Stoneware!
