Colourful Elephant Figurine

This is a colourful little elephant I came across on a recent trip to a local charity shop. It's colour drew me instantly and I had to take it, that and the fact it's an elephant which I happen to love too! It's a rather heavy little statue and feels cold to the touch rather like enamel and it made me wonder what exactly it's made from- is it some kind of metal or enamel? The paint is rather bumpy on it too and seems to be rather hand done and blotchy in place?
It's also without any marks anywhere on it and because of that makes me think it must have been a souvenir piece from maybe India or someplace and it makes me wonder because of the trunk raised which can mean good luck is it some kind of totem or good luck symbol? Or maybe it's just a cheap little souvenir piece anyway and I'm just looking too much into it!
