From back in the day when people put pen to paper, including graphics design, engineering graphics, advertising, photography, and artistry...
I took a course in "engineering graphics" when I was wee lad, ie: drafting. Of course you wouldn't know it now given my penmanship which has come to resemble chicken scratches. But at the time when people oooh'd and aaaah'd at my writing and drawings, having one of these Sonic pen cleaners was a status thing amongst graphic artists. Everyone else, including me, had to clean your pens by hand. Well... I didn't have one, so that's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-)
I've put a polish to it to remove the yellowing the plastic had turned over the years. Looks great, works.. even had the manual in the box it was in. It's old, vintage. How old exactly I can't say difinitively. Possibly 30-50 years maybe older as I believe the newer ones were white or cream color with a different label.
Along with the Pen-Sonic, in the box was an empty bottle of Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph 3068 Rapido-Eze Pen Cleaner. You can still get t this particular cleaner today.. but the bottle has changed over the years or dare I say decades. So I thought I'd show the old and the new side by side. There was one more change to the bottle in-between these two I believe.
So, I have a Sonic pen cleaner that works to clean the mechanical pens that were in the box as well. My status is going up... Sweet! Lol
