I found this necklace recently together with a few Bakelite pieces - but this is not Bakelite! The clasp has been changed, so it is even harder to identify it, but my guess is that it was made around the 1940's. The beads have a wonderful honey colour and really glow in the sunlight, however, not all beads have the same shade. Many of the beads have, what appears to me, fine lines inside. I was thinking that it could be amber, but I don't want to put a hot needle in or float the beads in salt water. Any ideas what other plastics could have been used?

Vote for amber! (The thin cracks inside and difference in beads color...)
Is it light weight? If you have a black/UV light, does it fluoresce?
Thanks a lot for your comment and input, kyratango. The necklace is light weight. I do have a black light but it didn't cross my mind to check. I will do so soon:)

Kyratango, I did the test with the black light and compared the result with some other pieces of amber. I am not sure if there are different qualities of black lights. Mine produces only a light fluorescent glow in all my items, but fluorescence nevertheless. Base on that,with your help, I would say that my necklace is amber. Once again, many thanks for your help:)
