      Not Native American. A man named Ken Edwards moved to Mexico, I believe it was in the 50's or 60's (could be a bit later, not positive) and taught the Mexicans how to paint like this for the tourists in the studio he built there. The bird is a key factor, plus, the back of your plate says MEX for Mexico.
