Grabbed this vintage bowl (possibly circa 1970s?) at a Goodwill in Denver last week. Love the earth tone brushstrokes and little handles. As you can see, the bottom has three hairline cracks, so I won't be cooking with it, but it makes a great serving bowl or even a planter. Signed Aile Lee on the bottom.
Does anyone know the work of Aile Lee? According to Google: "Aile Lee was born in Germany, attended the School for American Craftsmen (1948-50), New Mexico Highlands University (1956-58) and Claremont Graduate School (1958-60) - her stoneware pieces are in private collections and museums. She was known as a parrot breeder, which earned her the nickname "Bird Lady of Las Vegas." "
Beautiful earth colors & design, nice find
Thanks Newfld! :)
