This article was my stepfather first wife I know it's over a hundred years old looks like a crystal bowl with metal flower lid. I would like to know what it is.

really hard to make out any details in these photos; a side view showing the design would help. It looks like a spinner/pinwheel motif. I think it's Fostoria's 'Virginia' pattern; here's another CW post to compare:
