Old plate was found at Estate sale for free. Seems to be made out of clay? Heavy, Black, ship is embossed on back it had spots to hang it with , numbers scratched on it? And a marking indented that I cant seem to make. Definitely seems very old by texture make snd feel. Any ideas?

Seems to be an artistic rendition of an American frigate, mid 19th century with sails, one of the type of ships that would travel to Asia in a convoy with merchant ships, for import and export purposes. There also were multiple military situations where these ships were used in battle.

Just a wild guess. Could it be a Karlsruhe mark?
