WOW! I REALLY LOVE THIS!!! I am challenged now on another CW project and can't start to research this now, but I'll be back in about 2 weeks. What a thoroughly charming painting!
Hi, I'm still working on the other painting, but I didn't forget you. I don't find your artist - if you log onto askart.com you can find some similar names.... I do find an historic First United Methodist Church in Leavenworth, Kansas that might have hosted the meeting that is the subject of this painting. The church has a strong sense of its history, so it might be worth your while to contact them and ask them if they know anything about your painting. http://www.leavenworthfirst.org/481721
It's really a lovely painting!!! BTW, You're on the other side of the world, so you might not know this, but Leavenworth Kansas is a prison town - a big federal penitentiary is there. http://www.leavenworthfirst.org/481721
Have you found out anything about this painting? Or, where it came from? It is in exceptional condition - look how white is the back of the work.
And, look at the notation on back - it was not made with a dip pen. Indeed, it looks to me like it was probably not made with a fountain pen, either. It looks like it was made with a fine point felt tip pen or one of those Mark V pens, or similar. That is, a modern pen.
Was this painted on canvas, or was it painted on board or heavy paper? Is this an oil, or could it be an acrylic painting that was painted from an old photo? What does the metal plate on front of frame read?
Please tell us what you know about this beautiful painting! Thanks! miKKo
Interesting painting here is some history on the Camp . It is fairly long but informative .

Wow, Manikin! What a fascinating - and germaine paper!!! I'll study this one. Fabulous!!!
Hi, Deanteaks. I see that you're from Missouri. I don't know why I thought that you were from Australia or New Zealand. Please pardon my comments about Leavenworth....Sigh. miKKo
Good morning, Deanteaks. Sorry, was very tired last night. The writing in blue ink not made by felt-tip pen. Blue could have some age.
Sorry about the Leavenworth comment.
