Found these at an antique shop. Now I have to figure out how to attach them to my house.
From the internet:
Old cast iron stars, used in the construction of old buildings to keep the walls stable. Metal rods would run through a building, and the stars would anchor them from outside.

I would use two hampropes and hang it from the sealing and hang small glassjars from it with candles and use it as a beautiful lamp. That way I would do no harm to them and you can put them up later when you have figured out how :) or leave it like it is, a nice indoors feature....

Great idea! I am moving into and old farmhouse and want to see if they can actually be placed into the stone wall. Will try to update.
These are cool -- I've been hoping to run across something like them sometime, just for my rust garden?! As far as putting them on a house, I'd imagine the 'shaft' part is threaded to take the rod it was intended for...all you'd need to do is drill a hole big enough for that all the way thru your outside wall and put a big bolt on the inside -- no problem, easy peasy...??? <lolol>
Pennsylvania has a lot of these stars on their buildings. Interestingly, they differ in style and shapes from county to county. They are very collectable around here. You have a very nice star and it will look fine wherever you decide to display it.

Right now they are decorating my basement floor. They will look nice on the stone foundation of the old farmhouse that I just moved into recently.
