These were in my mother’s sewing box and I just can’t work out what they could have been used for? These scissors are 4” long and about 2 1/2 “ wide, they have a restricted screw on the side and right angle pieces cut out of lower blade? Would love to know what they are used for, such unusual scissors. - Tower Brand, made in Germany.

They are button hole scissors. Germany ones are about the best

Fhrjr2 beat me too it! I was going to tell you they are buttonhole scissors.
The screw is to set the distance the blades will close so you do not exceed the size you need the slit to be....you do not want to cut thru the button hole stitching.
