(1 item)
I was visiting my grandparents in central MN and my grandpa showed this item to me. We have no idea what it is or what it is used for. I was hopping that you might be able to help us out. my grandpa is wondering what it is how old it could be and what it might be worth. But any info that you could share would be awesome.
My wife and and just started to watch you show on the history channel, and are loving it so much!
Thank you so much for you time and help.
carlstrom : I have no idea what this item is but I see markings near the thumb screw so this gives you some place to start.Have fun on your quest,if you do get some answers please let us know. Thanks for posting the photo.
a long time ago shotgun shells had what they called a roll crimp on the end to hold the powder and shot in the shell. Now days a star crimp is used. Take your tool and clamp it to the table, insert a shot gun shell into the tube tword the handle that turns . Bring the long handle around to push against the base of the shell, rotate the left handle to put a roll crimp on the shell.
I should say that this toll was used when you were loading your own shells "handloading". Also in the bottom of the picture it looks like a shot or powder measure.
