Hi CW Collectors, I'm posting this brooch because I love Trifari. I bought this piece a number of years ago at my favorite tiny antiques mall. The owners call it a mall, but most would not as it is mostly furniture and about 30 tall cases. I loved this one dealer who I was told was the daughter of retired jewelers. She had the best things! This was designed by Alfred Spaney who was an important designer for Trifari in the early 1940s. His designs do not continue after that time, so I wonder if he was killed in WWII. This design is Patent 130,089, dated October 21, 1941. He did a series of brooches with floral motifs.
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully loving my post.

Exceptional classic Trifari, the flowers are so unusual & the rhinestones in wonderful condition for age. Did not know about Mr Spaney, thanks so much for the history

OMG you did it again. Would you give us the dimensions please - the photo makes it look large. It's almost edible. Delicious with the red stones, red enamel and a design that's just so good. Yum

Gillian, Good point! The brooch is 3 and 1/8" tall by 2 and 1/4" wide. Thanks for your juicy appreciation.

Thanks Newfld and Broochman! So glad you're Trifari fans, too.

Hi Eileen, There are two antiques malls in my area that I frequent semi regularly. The invisibly set circle came from this mall that is just full of junk. It's funny, because one of the sellers has books. If the other sellers actually read them, they would really help their businesses. But mostly, it is sad to see these dealers trying to sell these 'collectibles'. The other mall is mostly a high end antique English furniture shop with a small quantity of tall cases. The number of tall cases was greatly reduced when they moved to their current location. This is the place with the dealer who is the heir to the jewelry store inventory. She is still selling, but seems to have depleted the best. Actually, I don't get there like I used to, ( it was on the way to my son's school) so maybe others are finding the fabulous finds. Actually, my recent purchase from her was the yellow stone brooch I posted that I think looks vaguely like an early Eisenberg. My closed thrift was the best! It was run by retail execs (I'm guessing) to benefit a scholarship program (this part was known). It had the finest of clothes, shoes and costume jewelry. The costume jewelry was low priced because they got so much fine jewelry that they made their money there. And of course from the Chanel suits.:)
I love the red and ice combination, too. Elegant drama!
      Best,
      Maureen

Hi Eileen., Glad you stopped back and left an appreciative comment. Everyone has their favorite thing and I think this time period and style is mine. At least for now, subject to change, :)

      Hi Eileen,
Thanks again. I love early Trifari, as you well know!
