The third item from my Sunday antiques fair haul, this Victorian vase is interesting because this type of air trap glass is usually found with a satin finish (known as MOP satin glass). Left glossy, the air trap decoration has a notably different appearance to the satin version - it really sparkles.
This vase has a gourd shape typical of satin glass from the Victorian era.
It measures 15.5 cm tall, 2.7 cm across the cut top rim, & 5.7 cm across the base, which does not have a pontil mark. The vase is made from three layers of cased glass, clear over shaded pink, with a white interior. The air trap pattern is herringbone.
Most likely English, but could also be Bohemian. Similar items were made in both regions.
