My local op shop has been very good to me over the year I've lived here.
This find was from last weekend - walking over to the counter to pay for the three, brand new, unworn jackets I'd just found, I spotted this vase under the counter. As you would know, I'm a glass collector primarily, & don't particularly collect pottery. However, when I see something that captures my heart, then I must obey its call.
Carlton Ware is a familiar name in pottery - made in England, vast amounts of their products were imported to Australia throughout the 20th century. But this type is a little different from their usual fare of pastel toned table ware items. The Handcraft range was a high end line produced during the Art Deco era, & this particular vase is an example of the Stellata pattern. I just love the bold, simple design & electric colours. I have a feeling I might develop a taste for it!

So beautiful! I would have nice elegant big green leaves in this to go with the flowers :)

Very pretty and unusual piece! I used to collect porcelain, but now I prefer glass. I usually stay away from starting a "new line of collecting" because it would open the door to gathering more stuff - but I think I would have picked up this beauty, too:)

      Thanks so much, freiheit!
Yes, it's definitely glass for me too, but if I find any more of these pieces (at a reasonable price) then they'll always be welcome. But I'm perfectly happy with just this one if that's the way it's meant to be...
