This Drill Press Angle Vise with movable jaws restoration is now completed. All done by hand this was a lot of work! A lot of work! Whew!
Re-sufaced, Corrections in production made, and improvements.
Color is Candy Green over Silver Metallic.
Paint it's oil, gas resistant and can handle temps up to 500°F.
I also tried my hand at dying wood for the first time in making a custom stand for it and case to house all and protect it from future corrosion.
I know nothing about the vise itself as far as who made it or in what year it was in production. I can't find one with moveable jaws like it online with the exception of one produced out of India. If you do know anything about this vise, please chime in.

What I do know is it had a sticker on it that stated "Made in Taiwan". The pivot bolt is not imperial but rather a British standard thread. So it's possible a European company had it produced.

The unique feature of this particular vice are the two half moons on the dynamic jaw. They free float and rotate to allow it to accommodate round stock up to 3 inches. As well as flat stock when flush with the static jaw.

Originally the angle of adjustment was limited to around 83°/84°. I've modified the front to allow it to be able to reach a full 90°. This of course will require me to make new slides for it to be able to do so, as the stock ones aren't long enough, but it's ready for when I do.
And when I do that will make this a one of a kind drill press vise by this manufacturer whomever it is.

The last picture in this set showed the condition I received it in. It was pretty much a rusted block of steel completely locked up from corrosion.

I hope you like how it turned out and can add some further info on it.
If you'd like to see more pics and read more on the restoration process you can do so on my blog at the following link:

These are quite common and also called a drill press tilt vise. Normally used by a machinist and have degrees marked on them. They also work well for wood working. Mine has rubber jaws to protect wood from crushing while gripping it. I have to use wax paper between the jaws and the wood because the pads are black and it will come off on the wood. Ones made off shore usually sold for around $9.99 in places like northern tool and Harbor freight.

      @ fhrjr2
      - Drill press angle vises with two flat faces are common. I don't know if you noticed but this one has moveable jaws on the dynamic jaw.
As mentioned in the post, I've only found one with a similar dynamic jaw out of India.
If you say they're common, please point me in the direction of who makes it. No one I've spoken to or shown it to online has ever seen one before. And in referring to machinist and the like. It's a mystery to all of us as to who made or makes it if they still do. Or when it was made.

Great tip on the wax paper, it will also help when gluing up if you do that as well. It'll prevent the clamp from being glued to the wood.

@ freiheit - thank you kindly. Pics just taken with my cell phone on a piece of white wrapping paper so I can show it online. I'm not set up to take "good" images. Just doing the best with what I've got at the moment. But they come out okay for what it is. Sometimes.. lol
thanks again for the kind words.

      Cheers...
