I recently bought this spinach swirl bakelite necklace online for almost nothing. The photos were dark and the add just said "plastic" but I was quite sure it was bakelite beads I saw, in need of "saving" by me :) I was right. These have a wonderful bright green swirly color (green/yellow) and an usual shape. I am not sure they were originally on this chain but they are there to stay, think they look cool and retro/modern together. After the photos were taken I have mended the chain with a clasp. All in order and it is now amongst my little collection of bakelite and in a color I lacked. Bakelite is not well known where I live, sometimes it is anoying and sometimes it is a good thing. Thankyou chance for making me see this add :) :)
Beautiful necklace, nice find
I think you are spot on Val! Thanks love :)
Thanks Broochman for your nice coment :)!
I think bakelite is so interesting. This is a great find. The metal findings are definitely vintage, I think. They look like the links on an old Italian glass necklace I inherited from my mother. Love it, look s so modern.
I agree with you, bakelite is interesting. Candy for the eyes. I have "the bakelite jewellry book" by Davidov/Redington and I can read it over and over again and look at the jewelry.
Thanks for nice coments about my necklace. Yes I also think its vintage, my fellow CW collectors give me reason to think I am right there.... :) The beads are probably older like Val said.
Thanks gys for loving my post!
Guys thanks :)
