I don't know SQUAT about dolls in general not to mention anything like this, other than what I can observe about it and attempt to show/tell. Promised a friend I'd try to find out a little info anyway...the very least I could do in return for the nifty green stone springy bracelet the other day...??? ;-) :-) :-)

It is a rather nicely made (if scuffed up) tri-folding wooden case measuring about 16" x 20" x 9" with brass hardware and a handle. When its front sides are unclipped and opened, it reveals a pretty little doll with her 'wardrobe', beside her, and her 'dressing table/mirror', and 'murphy bed' inside each half of the cover.

Closer examination (and chasing an errant spider away while doing so) revealed a small UPC barcode sticker on the bottom of the case, and a small "MADE IN CHINA" label on the doll's backside [sorry dear, I had to look under all your pretty petticoats] so it seems obvious she probably really isn't anywheres near very *old*. Her body seems to be mostly 'cloth covered' underneath her existing outfit, I don't know what her head and nicely detailed face are made of but it doesn't seem like plastic.

AND THAT'S all I know about it, other than the general fact that there *are* other folks out there in CW land that *do* collect dolls and stuff, thus mebbe might be able to take a quick moment to share me a clue if this truly *is* any sort of "something", PLE-E-E-E-ASE???
    <beg><smile> TIA, CW Friends!! :-) :-) :-)

This doll is from 1980-90's and is a porcelain doll made to look like the antique bisque dolls . They were quite popular during a time when antique dolls were selling high . The market for these mass produced porcelain dolls is flooded as antique dolls have become more affordable . Both have dropped drastically in price . Your doll was never sold as a play doll but as a collectible and bought by adult collectors . Many were quite expensive back in their hayday . She should have a mark on back of neck indicating maker . Can you check ?
I just saw your post so sorry it took so long to reply

THANK YOU SO VERY SINCERELY Manikin, for the definitive word!! <applause> Somehow I kinda had a feeling that she was something along those lines...good to know for sure. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

I've just rearranged my pics to show -- as you oh-so-correctly predicted -- the lettering on the back of her neck (where I never thought to look) reading, near as I can tell, "9901B". Another detail I failed to notice when taking the 1st pics is that there is another small 'drawer' in her case below her dresses, which actually still contains a 2nd tiny pair of shoes for her.

      Once more Mani -- THANKS SO MUCH!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
